Potassium nitrate KNO3 is a chemical compound which forms colourless crystals. It is an ionic salt of potassium ions K+ and nitrate ions NO3, an alkali metal nitrate. It occurs in nature as a mineral and is a source of nitrogen.
Potassium nitrate is used for fruit and vegetable production in the agricultural industry, in horticulture for lawn care and tree stump removal, and as a material for solar panels.
As a solution, diluted at 20%, it is used in waste water treatment industry for treating septicity and other industrial processes.
